3 April 2025 – Q&A Panel Session

Is it time to take back control of your future?

Join us for an update and Q & A panel session on some of the latest legal, planning and environmental opportunities for farmers, landowners and developers.

Whilst economic uncertainty continues you might now be thinking about how to secure your future and that of the generations to come.

It’s time to consider all the options available and put yourself back in the driving seat, to regain control.

Gullands Solicitors, DHA Planning and Native Ecology will present a guide for farmers, landowners and developers including how to navigate your way through some of the opportunities and pitfalls of current planning policy.

If you’ve asked yourself any of the following questions, then this event is for you.

• Should I keep my farm, landholding or business intact for succession to the next generation or should I restructure, sell or rent any part of it now to reduce exposure to Inheritance Tax?

• What diversification opportunities are available to me now to raise additional income or revenue streams and what are the key legal issues to be aware of?

• Will changes to planning policy affect what I want to do now or in the future?

• What do I need to know about Biodiversity Net Gain and is any of my land suitable?

Our speakers and panel

DHA will give an overview of the planning processes available for diversifying land and portfolios. The session will discuss the recent changes to national planning policy and regulations regarding energy generation and permitted development rights. DHA will also be reviewing the planning implications and opportunities of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).

Gullands Solicitors will discuss some of the legal considerations around diversification opportunities, BNG agreements and their practical effect now, and on the next generation, future buyers, investors and lenders. They will also examine the diversified farming business from a corporate perspective and the increasing importance of getting your business structures right, to maximise its potential and ensuring fitness for purpose on exit, or handover to your successors.

Native Ecology will discuss their role in diversification and BNG projects and use of best practice and correct processes to meet challenges.

Following the presentations, there will be Q&A session and networking with an opportunity to meet the speakers.
