Where we are instructed to obtain the Grant of Probate and there is no Inheritance Tax to pay or transferrable allowance to claim we charge a fixed fee of £1200 plus VAT
Where we are instructed to obtain the Grant of Probate and no Inheritance Tax is payable but the transferrable nil rate band allowance is claimable, we charge £1,500 plus VAT
Where we are instructed to obtain the Grant of Probate and form IHT400 and the associated schedules need to be completed our fees start from £2,500 plus VAT.
Where we are instructed not just to obtain the Grant of Probate but also to assist in the administration of the estate itself, we are happy to provide a quotation when we know the size and complexity of the estate. As a guide, however, we would not normally charge more than 2% of the gross value of the estate plus VAT. Our charge out rates are currently as follows:

Sunil Dhir, Solicitor £270 + VAT
Jacqueline Beadle, Solicitor £270 + VAT
Elina Jacina, Solicitor £250 + VAT
Michaela Porter, Associate Solicitor £225 + VAT
Urszula Staniszewska, Paralegal £225 + VAT
All work is handled from start to finish by experienced specialist Solicitors/Probate Executives and supervised by other specialist Solicitors/Probate Executives.
We can also give you an estimate of how long the administration of the estate will take at that stage.
The standard expenses are as follows:
Probate Court Fees – £300 plus £1.50p for each court sealed copy of the Grant.
Statutory Notices to Creditors – variable but approximately £500.
Bankruptcy Search Fees – £2 + VAT per person.
